There is so much to see and do in Phuket with beautiful beaches, lush natural landscapes, eco activities and new attractions opening each year providing entertainment for all the family. Phuket also celebrates some unforgettable Thai festivals such as the wet and wild Songkran at Thai New Year, the unique Vegetarian Festival and Loy Krathong. Each provide an insight into the people and culture of Phuket. Below we have highlighted just a few of the fun things to do in Phuket.

Kata Beach
Kata beach is the beach of choice for many visitors to the south of Phuket. The bay offers 1.5 km of beautiful golden sand and clear waters. The sea is very calm during the high season making it a perfect for families and young children, and from April to October when the waves are higher, surfers can be found making the most of the waves. The beach is lined with trees providing a wonderful shady area to enjoy a picnic or relax with a Thai massage.

 

Weekend Market
Locals flock to this large colourful market in Vichit each Saturday and Sunday evening, to catch a bargain from the numerous stalls selling a whole range of goods. Clothing, jewellery, eyewear, bags, shoes, music and home décor, are just some of the items that can be purchased at great discounted prices – but don’t forget to barter! The food vendors sell a range of local fruit, Thai food and snacks including some weird and wonderful delicacies.

 

 

Big Buddha
This newly completed landmark set in a tropical forest area of Chalong, is the largest Buddha in the region, made from Burmese white marble. Known locally as Big Buddha the 45 metre high image of Lord Buddha attracts pilgrims and tourists to visit this religious site, not only to pay respect, but to also enjoy the wonderful panoramic views of both east and west coasts.

 

 
Siam Niramit
This large stage show is new to Phuket but has been dazzling audiences in Bangkok for many years. The spectacular show is unlike any other showing the wonderful arts and culture of the four regions of Thailand. The huge stage displays many different sets during the performance and uses state of the art technology and special effects. Over 100 performers in lavish costumes entertain 6 nights a week with the 70 minute show.
